A Simple Mother's Day Card

Hi there Scrappers! If you're like me, then you're behind on your projects. I'm still working to finish up Mother's Day stuff, which I know is right around the corner. So tonight, I have a beautiful, simple card for you that would be great for Mother's Day or any other time for that matter.

This is such an easy card to make but that Prima flower just really makes it pop! I love it! I used Bo Bunny's Sophie line of paper to match with the Prima flower. I added some scrap ribbon and bling to jazz it up. The phrase is a Stampendous stamp, which is too cute and I distressed the edges of that white paper with some Antique Photo distress ink.

This card came together so quick and easy. I'm sure that I would have spent longer at Hallmark looking for the "right" card. I love that about card making. Each one is made with love.

A Card Challenge

Today I have a card for a Challenge on A Day in the Life of The Paper Poppy. The layout is given on her blog and you can use Stampendous stamps and also enter on their blog for a chance to win. So this is the card that I created:

This butterfly stamp by Stampendous, called Ruffled Butterfly, is one of my favorites. I LOVE this stamp. So what I did here with it was stamp it onto Basic Grey Lemonade paper using black archival ink. Then I cut the butterflies out and used some frosted lace Stickles on some of the dots in the middle just to give them a little sparkle. Then I attached them to the card with some pop dots for dimension.

All the patterned paper I used is from the Basic Grey Lemonade collection. I really love the look of that. Next I cut out the word "Mother" on my Silhouette. I used some dimensional gel that I got at a scrapbook con, I can't remember what they call it, and then I sprinkled some really fine glitter into it and let it dry. I think this gives the letters such a pretty look. Once everything was dry I ran it through my Xyron sticker maker and then attached it to the card. I love using that for the little things I cut out on the Silhouette, it makes my life much easier and it's not messy like spray adhesive is.

For finishing accents I used some shimmery ribbon I had left over and tied a bow. I attached this to the card used vellum tape since it's so fine and see-thru. Vellum tape works wonders in these situations. I also used some pearl bling accents on the card just for a little more pop.

So there you have it. I hope you like it! This will make a great Mother's day card I think.

Happy Scrapping!

Big Lots find

Not much scrapping going on here today, but I did stop by Big Lots and I found a few cool things that I thought I'd share.

I think Big Lots is a good place to look for embellishments. I happened to find some really great Basic Grey stuff today, that was definitely worth the stop. Plus a couple of other neat finds, Fiskars Zingz sticker accents for $1.00 - I haven't seen these before but I thought they would be good to add a little something to flowers on patterned paper or something. And then some pop art stickers by Ki Memories for $1.00, these were cute and I thought would work well on cards.

I have never been impressed by Big Lots papers and personally I think they overcharge on that considering the brands just aren't there. But then, I do consider myself a paper snob! :)

I hope everyone has a great weekend and happy scrapping!

A New Home and a Birthday!

So I have a couple things to show you today. The first is a card I've made to send out to my family with my new address since I recently moved. This was a fun card to make.

So the basis of this card really centered around that stamp of the tricycle with the slogan "It's a good day" I love this stamp by Unity Stamp, it's part of their itty bitty collection. It comes in two pieces mounted on cling foam, the phrase is one piece and the bike is another, which is great so you can use them separately.

I used Fire Brick and Spiced Marmalade distress ink on the stamp to give it a more vintage look. The background paper is from the DCWV Mainstreet stack, which has a lot of vintage looking paper in it. Then I used some little tags for the "Our New Home" part and the bottom one will be where I put our new address. The tags are by K & Company. I finished it off with a little ribbon and a few buttons. I love how this came together.

The next card I have for you today is a birthday card. This one is actually going to my mom.

This card has a few of my favorite things - butterflies, glitter, and purple! The patterned paper is BoBunny Sophie collection. Then I took some Stickles to the paper to highlight it and frame it. The butterflies are awesome, I've actually bought this set a few times, I always see it at Target and this last time they were on clearance too! Anyway, they are by Marcella by K and you get 16 butterflies so you can make multiple projects with them.

So that's it for today, but we've got several holidays coming up. There is Easter, Mother's Day, and Father's Day right around the corner. Are you ready? Have you started your projects?
